About the church

On behalf of all the members of the church may I give you a warm welcome to St. John’s Wood Road Baptist Church online! We are small evangelical Baptist church, very close to the heart of London, part of the Association of Grace Baptist Churches (South East), and also a member of Affinity. The church was started in 1826, later moving to the site where the building is now, 39 St. John’s Wood Road, NW8. Through all these years our desire has always been to honour the Lord Jesus Christ and share the good news he came to announce .

We are not currently a large congregation but we seek to do what we can to make the gospel available to as many people as possible, building a Jesus centred community to bless NW8 and beyond. We are committed to the Bible as God’s word to mankind. It’s purpose is not to be read and studied as an end in itself, but the Bible is how God has revealed himself, most clearly through the Lord Jesus Christ, and how he speaks to us today. The Bible says of itself that it is breathed out by God and that it is living and active. So when the Bible is read and taught God uses those times to speak to people.
